Six days countdown to T-Mobile HTC Dream Android aka GPhone
In a few weeks later or even shorter than that, US citizens will become the witnesses for the launch of two most anticipated smartphone in this year; Blackberry Storm and HTC Dream aka GPhone – after iPhone 3G of course. We have covered the first handset, Verizon Wireless-owned Blackberry Storm before, and now it’s time for the latest one; HTC Dream Android.
A little flashback on Google Phone
To make you even more aware on this subject, here I’ll put what NYT’s MIGUEL HELFT had told us about GPhone on its infancy. It was almost a year ago on October 8th, 2007.
For more than two years, a large group of engineers at Google has been working in secret on a mobile phone project. As word about their efforts has trickled out, expectations in the tech world for what has been called the Google phone, or GPhone, have risen, the way they do for Apple loyalists ahead of a speech by Steven P. Jobs.
That’s just the introduction, but I believe that the main idea of this article is to belong in this excerpt.
In short, Google is not creating a gadget to rival the iPhone, but rather creating software that will be an alternative to Windows Mobile from Microsoft and other operating systems, which are built into phones sold by many manufacturers. And unlike Microsoft, Google is not expected to charge phone makers a licensing fee for the software.

Some believe another major goal of the phone project is to loosen the control of carriers over the software and services that are available on their networks.
Well, you may or even may not agree with me on that issue, but I can’t see anything clear in the next few years besides those two things up there. Feel free to have your say too on this article here.
Google Phone Now!
Google has introduced Android practically yet officially on its Google I/O conference from May 28th to 29th in San Francisco this year. At that time, there are so many things we could digest as a raw information over the brand new-kid-on-the-block called Google Android. Let’s name some of them here; Google Street View, it will be released under the Apache open-source license, Android application store, Pac Man, etc.
All raw information up there can be true or even false during the launch of T-Mobile-HTC Dream Android on September 23th, 2008. A blogger named Stefan Frank from an unofficial Android-centric blog has confirmed that Sept 23th launch date by showing the image of the invitation here. Thankfully, both Wall Street Journals and Reuters also put the same point via their own website. So we can then conclude that the Android d-day is really going to come, for sure. As an addition, WSJ also noted that the handset will be available for purchase on late October this year.
What the GPhone will actually look like?
According to TechRadar’s Report at Google Developer day in London today, chances are that this handset will look like this one.
Some people also said that the device form factor is somehow really close to T-Mobile’s Sidekick. Well, I also want to say the same, but what do you think?
