The Samsung SGH-T339 is a handset that comes in a very attractive candy apple color. It also comes with a WiFi feature that is reason enough for people to flock to its side. The Samsung SGH T339 is a flip phone with an eye popping red color. The phone is very attractive in its light and slim figure. Its small figure makes it very portable and can fit in almost every pocket with ease. The phone is cased in plastic but very comfortable when held.

The external display is somewhat small. It only measures 1 inch and supports 65,000 colors. Screen shows the time, date, battery life, signal strength, photo caller ID and a viewfinder for the camera. Contrast and backlight time can be changed. The backlight time is very short maybe for battery saving purposes.

On the left spine of the phone, you will see the volume rocker and the headset jack which also serves as a charger port. The volume rocker is conveniently located for adjusting the volume levels during conversations. Headsets are limited to those provided by the manufacturer. On the right spine, there is a microSD card slot and camera shutter.

Flipping the phone open reveals a 2-inch internal display that supports 262,000 colors. Image and graphics are a bit blurry and washed out. The Samsung SGH T339??™s menu is icon-based and very easy-to-use. Backlight time and font color and size for dialing can be adjusted.

Phones navigation array is very nice. Keys are adequately spaced and flushed for easier and accurate key input. The circular toggle can also be used to launch frequently used applications. Inside the toggle is a button that serves as an OK key. The Talk and End/Power buttons are very accessible and the clear key is located just below the navigation toggle.

Keypad design is very good. An alternate color pattern of black and grey adorn the keypads. Keypad buttons are raised and a bit slippery but large in size. Keypad has a very bright backlight and provides good contrast for dark environments.

Phone book capacity is a large with room for 1,000 contacts. Each contact can have five phone numbers, email address, and notes. You can assign a contact to a group, photo for caller ID, and a polyphonic ringtone. Other basic features include: vibrate mode, alarm clock, world clock, calendar, task list, notepad, calculator, tip calculator, stopwatch, timer, unit converter, speakerphone, voice memo recorder, and text messaging and MMS. It also features Bluetooth, PC syncing, and IM or instant messaging.

With the Wi-Fi feature, it is very easy to make calls and provide better audio quality. You will just scan and choose through the available networks and make your call. Calling through Wi-Fi is free of charge. You just have to make sure that you are in a location wherein there is a strong and reliable Wi-Fi signal to make successful calls and conversations.

Located above the external display is a 1.3 megapixel camera. You can capture photos in seven different resolutions. There is also an impressive array of editing options such as night mode, brightness adjustment, and white balance settings. Loaded with settings and functions for image capture it comes with an additional set of features including six color effects, exposure metering, 4x zoom, shutter sounds, multi-shot and mosaic modes, self-timer and 28 fun frames. Photo quality however was average and there is no flash to capture brighter images in dark surroundings. You can directly upload photos to an online album. Videos can be recorded in three resolutions and other editing options are similar to image capture. Video clips could be recorded at 60 seconds for MMS messages.

Multimedia features for the T339 include a generic music player. It is very simple and easy to understand but options for toggling music play is limited to shuffling and repeating songs. One cool feature however is the phone??™s ability to use MP3??™s as ringtones.

Wallpapers, themes, and alert tones can be changed. You can download additional options and ringtones through the WAP 2.0 Web browser. Demo games are installed and you will have to purchase the full versions if you want an extended play.

The SGH-T339 is a tri-band phone. Call quality is fairly good but the volume is a little bit soft. On the other end of the line, the sound is fine with minimal background noise heard but it is not a big deal. Speakerphone was also a little low. You can have a talk time up to 6 hours and a 10-day standby time.
