Going green seems to be a growing trend these days. The Samsung Reclaim is built with recycled materials and consumes less energy. More of us are becoming aware that green living is equated to healthy living. That concept is integrated with the Samsung Reclaim. Not only does the phone have a green color, it also consumes less power and the packaging uses 70 A% recycled material and soy ink as print.

Design of the Reclaim looks more like the Samsung Propel. The phone is short and somewhat wide but feels comfortable in the hand. It is so portable that it fits into pockets easily for storage. Slider mechanism is top notch and built to be tough. The distinctive green color gives its special look.

Phone display measures 2.6 inches and supports 262,000 colors. The large display gives a more convenient way of viewing photos and videos. Photos and videos were bright and colorful. Brightness and backlight time can be adjusted to personal taste. Menu interface is icon-based giving it a simple look. The menu is very intuitive and supports the popular One Click interface.

Navigation array comes with a circular toggle and a central button that functions as a confirmation key. There are also two soft keys, a Talk and End/Power buttons, a button dedicated for the speakerphone, and a back key. They are flushed but not cramped making it accessible and easy to use.

Sliding the phone upwards will display the full QWERTY keyboard. There is enough room between the top keys and the slider so you will not have a problem when typing. The buttons are flushed but message typing is easy. Like most QWERTY phones, the symbols and numbers share space with the alphabets. Numbers and Function keys are highlighted in green. There are also shortcuts for e-mail, text applications, and emoticons on the keyboard.

On the left spine of the phone is a jack for a 3.5 mm headset which is very nice. Beside it is a large volume rocker. On the opposite spine, you will see the camera shutter, the charger port and a slot for the microSD card. Charger port uses standard micro USB connection. At the back panel, you will find the camera lens and a self-portrait mirror. Using the camera requires sliding the phone open for camera access. Speakers are located at the back of the back panel.

You can store up to 600 contacts with the Samsung Reclaim??™s phone book. Contact detail includes six phone numbers, email address, instant messaging ID, URL, birthday, job title, company name, and notes. You can assign the contact to a group, photo for caller ID, and a polyphonic ringtone. Other basic features include: vibrate mode, text and MMS, a tip calculator, calendar, alarm clock, world clock, calculator, memo, speakerphone, and stopwatch. Aside from these, it also includes a full Bluetooth with stereo profile, voice dialing, voice commands, voice memo recorder, IM, and USB storage

The Samsung Reclaim allows you access to MySpace, ScanLife, Facebook, and YouTube. In addition to this, a Green Glossary and Green Guide could also be found. You can use different features simultaneously with its application manager and simple multitasking feature. Emails from Yahoo, Hotmail, and Gmail are also supported as well as IMPAP4 e-mails with Outlook.

The Samsung Reclaim is an EV-DO phone which supports streaming music and radio. Multimedia files supported are MP3, AAC, AAC+ and WMA formats only. MP3??™s could not be used as a ringtones. You can download more music through the phones wireless option.

The 2 megapixel camera gives you the option to capture photos in five different resolutions and in three different quality settings. In addition to this, the editing features include: a digital zoom, color tones, brightness adjustment, night mode, center and spot metering, white balancing, shutter sounds, and 10 framing options. There is also the series, mosaic and panoramic capturing options. You can record videos with the same options as taking photos. The captured photos are alright but it could have been better if there was a flash to capture brighter pictures. Captured shots can be directly uploaded in social networks such as in MySpace or Facebook and YouTube. The microSD card can be expanded up to 16 GB.

The screensaver, and alert sounds can be customized and you can download more of these through the Web browser. There are also demo games installed, extended plays require you to purchase games online.

The Samsung Reclaim is a dual band phone. Call quality is average. Voices are loud and interference was not noticed during conversations. Voice quality may become distorted on high volume levels. M4 and T4 hearing aids are compatible with the phone. Talk time is rated at 5 hours before charging.

Overall, we found this eco-friendly phone to be great. It comes with easy-to-use controls and a unique design. The Samsung Reclaim??™s green color is not only for show but truly embodies environmental awareness and clean living.
