Navigating through the phones Window Mobile was aproblems with the earlier Blackjacks. The Samasung jack has moved leaps and has made navigation simpler with aa innovative turbo scroll button. Other new features for navigation includes a series of long and short presses for accessing certain functions. Pressing the send key twice enables you to make a call while pressing it down longer gives you the speakerphone.

Call quality was good with better than average reception compared to other phones tested. Calls were never dropped during the tests even while driving through the countryside. The Samsung clearly outclasses the competition with its surprisingly long battery life. Registering 8 hours for continous calls the Jack trumps similar smartphones in its class. The phone weight is due to its heavy battery but the tradeoff from this is surely worth it.

Built as a smartphone and business phone, the Samsung Jack SGH i637 scores good for messaging and making calls. Social applications were left out but all essentail messaging and features come standard with the phone. The phone comes with the usual services from AOL, Yahoo and MSN but welcome additions include support for Gmail and email setup toggling. For heavy text users, the Windows Mobile interface makes messaging simple. The QWERTY keyboard was smaller than its rivals but good feedback and sturdy constructions made texting easy.

Windows Mobile 6.1 proves why it’s a popular cellphone application as it makes quick work of scheduling. Other features include Microsoft Outlook support. It also enables users to view and edit documents such as Word, Excell and basic Powerpoint presentations. Added features included in the package are smaller PIM applications such as a D-Day countdown clock and Wikepedia search tools. What makes the phone special is the phones ability to function as a modem. Accessing the Internet is easy by using the phones connection. The fact that the Samsung Jack SGH i637 was designed for business and smartphone users does not mean mediocre multimedia features. Samsung phones are known fortheir great mutimedia functions and this was not left out with the Samsung Jack. A 3.2 Megapixel camera comes standard with the phone. Image capture is better than most 3 Megapixel shooters. An auto focus function could have made image capture better as some images seemed out of focus but pictures were generally clear and crisp.

The previous Blackjack series provided business users a capable phone, with Samsungs latest offer ithas made the mobile experience a more capable one. Building on its previous models success the phone comes out with new applications which only makes it a favorite among smartphone users.
