The Samsung Highnote comes in an innovative dual slider design. Not just built to catch attention, the dual slider design is made to reveal the phones 2 cool features. Slide the phone up and it reveals a speaker and slide it down to display a keyboard. The Samsung Highnote definitely scores well in design and its cool features makes it more attractive one.

The Samsung Hignote comes in two striking colors, red and blue. Samsung seems to have success in building slider phones. The sliding mechanism felt solid and the phones panels accurately locked into place. The Highnote comes in a sleek design. Measurements registered 4 inches in height, 0.6 inch width and a slim 0.6 inches. The phone comes in a measly 3.5 ounces and could easily fit in any pocket.

A 3.55 mm headset jack, microSd card slot, volume controls and locking site are conveniently located at its right side. Camera shutter, micro USB slot and music player is placed on the phones left. The USB slot functions for both charging and synchronizing the phone with your PC. Camera sits at the phones back panel.

Phone display comes at 262,000 colors through a 2.1 inch screen. Images were sharp and colors were crisp and bright. Texts were sharp and the phone also come with options for adjusting brightness and backlight time.

The Samsung Highnote comes with One Click feature. This allows a one touch option for accessing the phones different features. Navigating the phone is made simpler by this feature and gives a friendlier user interface. Another cool feature is the “bubble” interface which updates information such as news, sports, finance and horoscope.

Navigating the phone also comes with a new twist with the phones easy-to-use scroll wheel. This makes scrolling through the menus and applications easy and convenient. An elevated “OK” button sits at the center of the scroll wheel for easy confirmation of actions.

Key input is great with a spacious key layout. Feedback is also great with the tactile feature of the phone. Text messaging was easy as the keys provided a great feel when tapping the keypad. The Samsung Highnote comes with a dim backlight. Keys however were bright and provided a good contrast to the backlight.

The Samsung Highnote comes with a 2 megapixel shooter. Images are rendered in four resolutions and three quality settings. Picture capture suffers from a lack of a self-portrait mirror or flash for low-light capture. The camera also acts as a camcorder and can record regular videos depending on available memory. The phone comes with a 24 MB internal memory and getting high capacity memory cards is suggested for longer videos. The camcorder also records 30 second videos for MMS. Video setting are similar to picture toggling options. Picture and video quality was below average compared to similarly ranged cameras.

Revealing the phones speakers changes the phone’s mode. Shortcuts to game applications, music and TV applications are conveniently displayed on the phone. Wireless music downloads were easy and download times were remarkably fast. Music experience could have been better however. Putting the phone in music mode or exposing the speakers was a bit disappointing. Music and listening was average. The speakers were the main selling point of the phone and definitely scored better than average phones but did not really leave a lasting impression. Navigating through our favorite music tracks was easy with the One Touch interface. The Samsung Highnote also supports streaming music and videos.

Surfing the web was average and lackluster. It fairs poorly against some similarly ranged phones. Web sites took a little bit longer than usual and the phones 2.1 screen didn’t do a good job at displaying the site either. Surfing is done with the Polaris Web Browser which again fairs poorly but navigating was quite easy with the Highnote’s controls.

Overall call experience was great. The phone scored high both in voice quality and reception. Voices on the other end came clear and no noise was noted during calls. Battery life comes at 5 hours during test and Samsung could have done a better job of putting in a good battery for extended multimedia and calling features use.

The Samsung Highnote scores high in form and multimedia experience. Samsung has again delivered a solid and fun phone for its followers. The phone definitely scored better due to its unique speakers. Calls were clear and the speakers did an excellent job in improving music experience.
