Samsung SGH a777 Review

The Samsung SGH a777 is a slider phone which comes with 3G capability and great multimedia features. It’s another solid slider phone from Samsung who seems to have a knack for this type of phones. It’s both solid and compact and its light weight build is a sure welcome for those who are tired of those big and bulky sets that never seem to fit in their pockets.

The phone comes in two colors, blue and red. The SGH a777 comes with clean lines and sliding the phone reveals an alpha numeric keypad underneath. The phones front panel displays a 2 inch screen with a 262,000 depth resolution. The display is clear and bright, image display is crisp and viewing the phone even with sun glare is great.

Friends can easily be reached with its 1,000 contact phonebook. Make each contacts information more detailed as the phone further divides into multiple phone numbers, email address and URL’s. Group your contacts for faster access and provide each contact an image for easier recognition. The phone also provides a further personal touch with polyphonic ringtones.

Standard features include a clock, calendar, stopwatch, notepad and calculator to name a few. The Samsung SGH a777 also come with solid performances in MMS and EMS messaging. High-end models provide bigger storage capacity, mobile applications, instant messaging. Web based mail is also an added feature which makes connecting with friends easy even on the go.

The 1.3 megapixel camera captures images in three resolutions. Picture quality for phones in this range was good. Images captured were clean and colors were sharp. Image noise was noticed but minimal. Overall quality for the images were better than average for 1.3 Megapixel cameras.

Multimedia features were superb as what we would expect from Samsung phones. The phone is a great way of passing those idle hours spent traveling while keeping in contact with friends. Listening to music was great with the phones headset.

Keyboard layout was simple and the phone comes with a friendly user interface. Navigating through the phones menus was simple and quick. The phones panel was clean with simple navigation buttons for quick calls and access to basic functions.

The Samsung SGH a777 showed a decent battery life. Phone tests showed close to three and a half hours talk time and a standby time of two weeks. The phone didn’t score consistently with call quality. Signal reception was good even in limited provider signal areas. Hearing your contact was difficult however, the phones speakers didn’t perform that well as voice volume was a bit low. The phone comes with Bluetooth connectivity and voice quality was fixed with the use of Bluetooth headsets.

Overall review of the phone shows the Samsung SGH a777 to be a solid package. It was one of the best in the midrange level phones reviewed and scored great in function and entertainment value. If your looking for a great slider phone with decent entertainment value then the Samsung SGH a777 is one you should definitely look out for.
