The Motorola KRZR K1 mobile is one of the latest versions of the hugely popular MOTORAZR series. This mobile phone was specifically designed for those who appreciate cutting edge technology coupled with luxurious and detailed craftsmanship. It boasts of great multimedia and entertainment capabilities with enhanced global connectivity.

The design of the MOTOKRZR K1 is a masterpiece that even before it was released in the market, there was a long line of people ready to grab the phone. Motorola described the phone's design as exquisitely sleek and slim at 16 mm. The K1 is narrower than the earlier Razors and was noticeably longer which gave it a different feel. The phone was surprisingly light, weighing in at a measly 100 grams.

One drawback with the phone was its single port. Connecting the phone was cumbersome and motorola could have separated the connections for easier access. The MOTOKRZR’s main attraction is its fashionable glossy finish. This however can leave your fingerprints on the panel which is certainly not attractive. Basically designed as all Razor phones, it comes with the same clamshell structure and key layout.

The MOTOKRZR comes with a graphical TFT main display which splashes the screen at a 176 x 220 pixels resolution. Intensity of brightness can be set to your choice. Attached to this mobile phone is a 2 Megapixel digital camera with 8x digital zoom. The phone however lacks a macro mode and flash. Shooting images can be done through 4 different resolutions. Options for image capture also include Black and White with Night capture capability.

The KRZR K1's phonebook has been upgraded. Contact details have been improved and connecting to your friends has been enhanced. Messaging can be sent through SMS, EMS, MMS and eMails. Games and applications support however only includes Java applications the exception being its Digital Audio Player which is used for playing music. Applications include WebAccess category for better Internet Access.

The integrated browser though has failed to meet expectations. Installing the Opera mini for browsing is required for better surfing experience. Multimedia application features include music player, picture capture and videos. Connectivity options can either be through Bluetooth, USB, and MOTOSYNC.

In terms of communication, EDGE and Bluetooth applications have problems in terms of functionality. Data transfer is only rated at 25 kbps which is a bit too slow. For faster data transfers or transferring music or pictures at higher rates you need Motorola USB drivers or a P2K file manager.

The battery can last up to 300 hours in standby mode and about 6 hours when talking to someone over the phone. If you want to save energy, tone down the display's brightness at level 3 at least. One other option for charging is through the USB cable. This enables you to charge the phone while synchronizing your phone with the PC at the same time.

The best thing however with the Motorola KRZR K1 is its design. The phone is quite a looker and a quality feel when held. The Motorola KRZR K1 has added some new feature like EDGE, Bluetooth 2.0, and a microSD card slot. The Motorola KRZR K1’s were the first Razors to up the tempo. The Motorola KRZR K1 may lag behind its newer versions but at an incredibly low price this is a phone that is worth its weight.
