Blackberry has long been known as a company which provides great business phones. With the introduction of the iPhone and newer generations of smartphones Blackberry’s share in the cell phone industry has diminished. Smart cell phones from industry giants like Nokia and Samsung has been growing in popularity because their features and products now rival those of Blackberry’s and sometimes even has surpassed them with more innovative features.

The Curve 8900 is Blackberry’s latest offer in its new push to deliver great business phones with a new sense of fun and entertainment. The Curve is thinner compared to some of its counterparts; it is both stunning and refreshing. It still gives that Blackberry appeal but the smooth edges and slimmer figure gives it that added touch of beauty.

The 8900 has a 2.4 display that is both clear and crisp. Visibly smaller than the Blackberry Storm, the display however has a better resolution than the earlier model.

The Curve is designed with Blackberry’s tradition of excellent communication and messaging. The phone boasts of WiFi, GPRS and EDGE technology. One area where the phone seriously displays an area for improvement is the lack of 3G capability. The 8900 however displays excellent performance in streaming media applications, surfing desktop websites and standard SMS and MMS messaging.

The Blackberry Curve comes with WiFi capability and has proven a strong case in its lack of 3G capability. WiFi users will have a great time using the phones WiFi as the phone easily connects with any system. Browse and surf the internet at good download speeds.

The Blackberry 8900 has a 3.2 Megapixel camera armed with autofocus and a flash to boot. The camera delivers decent image quality and has helped diversify the phone and appeal to younger users. The camera also has the capability to capture video and delivers good quality pictures and videos.

In the area of multimedia applications the Curve 8900 has certainly showed improvements in the area of sound quality and a much friendlier user interface. The curve comes with a 256 MB memory card and loading the card with music tracks was quick and easy. There is also a 3.5mm headphone jack which we quickly put into good use. Music quality was superb and voice calls were enhanced with the use of after market headsets. Communication between the phone and your PC is also easy with the use of a USB which comes along with the package.

The Blackberry Curve 8900 comes with the new 4.6 OS version. It gives the phone a modern feel and look. It also greatly enhances user interface. The phone comes with the now familiar QWERTY keyboard which has made composing messages a breeze. The trackball continues to be a popular feature with Blackberry phones; it has made scrolling through the different menus and scrolling down web pages easier.

The Curve 8900 comes with good scores in terms of battery life. The phone could easily be regularly used for two days without the need for recharging. Call quality however is below average and noise and clutter could be heard over the phone at times.

The Blackberry Curve 8900 is one notch higher than its 8300 series siblings. It proves to be a good buy for smartphone hunters and Blackberry fans alike. The Curve 8900 is feature rich plus its inherent sexiness has made the phone more appealing to more cellphone buyers.
