T-Mobile Launches Blackberry Pearl Flip Site

RIM’s Blackberry Pearl 8220 phone, known as the Pearl Flip (and previously the Kickstart), is yet to release, but T-Mobile is ramping up the hype a little by launching their official product page for the device. While also expected in all black, the T-Mobile page features the red hued version of the phone, which looks pretty snazzy juxaposed against the black front. It’s the first time we’ve seen the red, and it isn’t altogether too in-your-face and will likely appeal to some in the business sect – although others will still prefer the purely professional all black.

Cosmetics aside, the Blackberry Pearl Flip is a 3.6 ounce phone with dimensions of 3.9″ x 1.9″ x 0.7″. It features the same SureType QWERTY keyboard of the original Flip (two letters per key), but it all comes in a flip design that users accustomed to such devices will welcome with open arms, rather than putting up with another candy bar design. The smartphone is quad-band EDGE based and boastsĀ  two high-resolution color displays, with the internal 240 x 320 LCD doing the main leg work, while the external allows for the previewing of incoming calls and messages. Other technologies include Speaker Independent Voice Recognition (SIVR) for Voice Activated Dialing, mp3 ring tone support, conference calling, speed dialing, smart dialing, voicemail attachment playback and call forwarding. Also on hand is Bluetooth 2.0 support and a speakerphone. All this comes with a removable and rechargeable battery that supplies four hours of talk time and 14 days of standby time.

If you’re interested in a little Flip-themed BlackBerry goodness, head on over to the T-Mobile site here. You won’t be able to order one, but the option exists to preregister, which should aid in assuring you’re one of the first to show this one off at the office.
