Sprint today sent a press release out announcing that operations have continued relatively smoothly in the wake of Hurricane Gustav, as technicians have worked round the clock to restore lost service via Cell Sites on Wheels. However, Sprint users have cited that they’re pleased with the reception and that both their wireless and data services have pulled through, despite the inclement weather. Customers reported sustained service throughout the hurricane and following its wake. Mark Sudduth, a professional hurricane tracker, had a glowing review of Sprint:
“The network performed flawlessly, and I was able to complete my mission of providing important weather data to consumers and news organizations,” said Sudduth.
Now that the Gustav threat has passed, Sprint is actively gearing up to handle the aftermath of Hannah in North and South Carolina, which should be relatively negligible, as this writer is currently stationed in Charleston and it’s all calm on the home front. A bigger threat lies as Hurricane Ike makes its way possibly to Florida, but Sprint remains adamant that they’ll do everything within their power to keep their customers connected to friends and loved ones.
We’ll have more on the aftermath and effects on Sprint and other services following the landfalls of Hannah and Ike.
