Sony Ericsson Shows Off New Slider

by Billy Kirk on September 10, 2008

Sony Ericsson today announced the G705 mobile phone, and this one looks dressed to kill. The nicely styled slider phone boasts a 2.4″ screen upon which users can perform a number of advanced multimedia tasks, such as utilizing the included 3G technology (or Wi-Fi!) to swiftly surf websites using the built in full HTML browser. Repositioning pages for ease of read is a snap, too, thanks to sensors that determine when the phone is held horizontally and thus switch automatically to landscape view. Shortcuts exist for Google and more for zooming about the ‘Net and finding what you need exactly when you need it.

“The G705 is ideal for those who need a bit of help organising their busy life.” said Catherine Cherry, Global product marketing manager at Sony Ericsson. “This life-enhancing phone has everything you need to keep track of your daily activities and is perfect for keeping in touch with friends. It also allows you to stay fully up-to-date thanks to the full HTML browser, email support, and desktop RSS feeds – all delivered at turbo 3G speeds.”

“Life-enhancing?” That’s a bold statement – the phone looks good, but that good? Even so, irrespective of enhancement qualities, the G705 is sure to act as a great complement to your daily tasks thanks to its slate of multimedia features. Outside of easy web browsing, the built-in 3.2 megapixel camera gets the job done for those needing the ability for a little impromptu photography, and video capabilities including the choice to upload directly to the web are present. The 1GB of included memory is more than capable of storing your important photos and files, and today’s announced partnership with Google means that YouTube will be directly integrated into the G705 and future Sony Ericsson handsets, providing for instant downloading and uploading of video. Oh, and did we mention some sweet A-GPS functionality teamed up with Google Maps? The streets are yours to conquer with the G705.
