HTC Touch HD

TouchHD1

If there is a single leaked smartphone images in this week that has shook most cellphone blogs out there, bet you it must be the HTC Touch HD. Note that Touch HD is not its official name. Yet it is a given name from the tipster who gave this leaked images to Modaco.

The term “HD” on this HTC series perhaps has been given as an identity to refer its 800 x 480 pixel (WVGA) screen resolution. This screen resolution is also known to be the maximum allowed resolution for Windows Mobile-powered devices. From the images we’ve got so far, this smartphone is definitely a candybar smartphone with Touch FLO 3D interface that is similar to its cousins, HTC Touch Diamond and Touch Pro.

Unfortunately, one thing that I still couldn’t understand yet from this HD series is the lack of D-pad. Well, without a D-pad, no wonder if Modaco said that this handset will come with stylus. To be honest, stylus is not as great as D-pad or a like because you’ll almost need two hands to work with it. One hand to hand on your device, while other will stick with that skinny stylus.

However, HTC Touch HD-rumored specifications is quite excellent. Too bad if I don’t not to list it up here.

  • Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional
  • Qualcomm 7201A processor @ 528MHz
  • 512MB ROM / 256MB RAM (+32MB on processor)
  • WVGA
  • 115mm x 62.8mm x 12mm
  • GPS / HSDPA etc. etc.
  • 5 Megapixel camera (no flash)
  • No D-pad or scroll wheel, does have a stylus
  • microSD slot
  • 1350mAH battery
  • 3.5mm headset jack on the top!

Price and availability

Even Modaco itself do not have any information about this issue. But they’ve said that this Touch HD will be available in this Christmas. A question emerged then, are you willing to buy a smartphone that only win on its screen resolution? Decide yourself please.

Note:

A D-pad (short for directional pad) is a flat, usually thumb-operated directional control found on nearly all modern video game console gamepads, game controllers and on the remote control units of some television and DVD players, or cellphones with one button on each point.

Oh, it's the only real way to stay informed. So go on, read for a bit. It won't hurt, we promise.

Reading hasn't been this cool since smoking was first introduced. The great difference is we're pretty sure you can't die from daily reading, so go on and overdose a bit.
