Best Buy meet iPhone. Today!

bestbuy080904

This plan has crushed blogs and major media about a month ago on August 12, 2008. At that time, many of iPhone 3G-wannabe, especially in US were asking for more stores to purchase this touch screen handset. No doubt for such request like this since iPhone 3G has attracted a lot of people to buy it on its launch day around the world. Even though AT&T and even Apple themselves has provided US iPhone 3G market with their 2,910 spots to date, it just seems that Best Buy’s help will be much appreciated for this case.

And today, both Best Buy and Apple does it! With 970 Best Buy stores in addition, this deal will broaden Apple’s chance to sell its iconic candy bar cellphone in approximately 3000 locations around US. However, note that Best Buy is not selling this device in a common way just like they are used to sell other devices. For this Apple’s special gadget offering, Best Buy has arranged a nice procedure so that they can make sure if all customers will be happy after the transaction had happened.

Here is the procedure which I meant up there.

Buying an iPhone on 9.7.08

It will take about 45 minutes to purchase your iPhone 3G and set up your AT&T account. We know your time is valuable, so Best Buy® is offering scheduled, 1-hour appointment times for consultation and the purchase and setup of your new iPhone. Here’s how the process works:

  • Customers in line will receive iPhone appointment tickets from a Mobile Phone Specialist shortly before the store opens. A ticket reserves an iPhone 3G for you, whether you choose to wait in store or to schedule a day and time to return to this Best Buy for your iPhone 3G purchase and setup.
  • Upon returning to Best Buy, customers who have chosen a specific date and time should visit our iPhone concierge at the front of the store to check in and begin their appointment.
  • Appointments will cover everything from purchase to AT&T account setup. Geek Squad® Agents will be available to assist customers requesting e-mail setup or to answer questions.

Anyway, don’t forget to check this additional information too.

  • iPhone 3G will be available for purchase at over 900 Best Buy stores offering AT&T 3G service.
  • One iPhone per customer.
  • Due to strong demand, they will not be eligible for pre-order.
  • Walk Out Working™ with AT&T plan sign-up and iPhone configuration in store.
  • A large selection of iPhone accessories is now available at BestBuy.com and in Best Buy stores.

Running for that 10 million target

pm_iph_080813

Some analyst believe that this Apple-Best Buy agreement is just one of the path this Cupertino-based company have to take to reach their target to sell about 10 million iPhones around the world. Apple, which has sold 1 million iPhone 3G in just four day after its release, is seriously working to sell iPhone globally. Recently, they have just released iPhone 3G in some Asia countries including India, Philippines, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Later, Russia and China will be their next potential target market.

On the other side, this deal can also be understood as a preparation for Apple to meet the demand in this year Christmas vocation. Just check out this page if you want to purchase iPhone in Best Buy. Have a nice e-shop then.
