Ever since early models of the Blackberry Curve were released, a sticking point with many has been the lack of support for tapping into WiFi networks. The original 8300 was replaced by T-Mobile with the Curve 8320 edition that sported the WiFi compatibility, but the apparent exclusivity left those with other provider contracts wringing their hands and swearing to the mobile Gods.
These users can fret no longer – well, as long as they’re buddied up with AT&T, that is. Cingular/AT&T/whatever-they’re-calling-themselves-these-days is bringing the 8320 to their user base, complete with OS 4.5 and access to all 17,000 odd AT&T hot spots. Yummy. Also of interest is a cosmetic change for the better: Instead of the T-Mobile gold finish, the AT&T 8320 unit will be styling a proclaimed “sapphire-blue” coating. Tacky gold, eat your heart out.
Launch date in the United States is up in the air, but early reports are suggesting sometime around the last week of September. Pricing details are also lacking, but the 8320 will undoubtedly provide an outlet to those wanting to rock a WiFi capable Blackberry without ponying up for the pricier and upcoming Blackberry Bold. Sure, the Bold looks delicious, but in this economy….
