Technology Review reported on July 23 that researchers have developed a new enhancement for cell phone cameras which could, theoretically, bring a more mobile and cost-effective means of diagnosing illness to impoverished areas with limited access to health care. It’s a tubular length tacked onto the cell’s existing lens, and it is called Cellscope.

Motorola has issued a call for indy app developers from the cultivar Android. Developers will reportedly be given advan popular platform — heretofore snatched up and distributed by HTC. They will test and debug the devices, and they’ll remain in communication with Motorola engineers for app development geared specifically to the manufacturer.

RadioShack will now be offering T-Mobile devices and rate plans (already available through the techie supercenter’s website). This incorporation makes an active fourth for the company in regard to major cellular carriers — they already offer services on behalf of AT&T, Sprint Nextel and Alltel.

The numbers for mobile broadband speed are in and . . . none too shocking. Wired.com recently rated the major U.S. carriers to sekle if the health of their 3G pulse lives up to its talking points. Their results? Verizon first, T-Mobile second, Sprint third and AT&T holding up the bridal train.

We at Mobile Maven are primarily interested in cell phones and gadgets. From time to time we get inquires about reverse cell phone lookups. Apparently if you only have someone’s cell phone number but not a name or address, you can enter their number into a database, and get back the information you’re looking for. [...]
